The Workshop

Post-Conference Workshop   About the Workshop:

Innovation in the Real World

Friday 8th December 2006

Led by PA CONSULTING

Creating innovative ideas and turning them into real commercial products is a major challenge to most organisations. In reality, "blue sky " thinking has to be realised within a box constrained by capital cost, manufacturing technology, market acceptance, etc.

The workshop will explore ways in which breakout product ideas can be created whilst respecting and stretching existing commercial and technology constraints. Insights and examples will be drawn from different industry sectors (from food to pharmaceuticals, cosmetics to cars).

  About PA Consulting

Wil Schoenmakers is a member of PA's Management Group. Wil has led the introduction of many new-to-the world products and processes across a wide range of consumer products. Wil has an in-depth understanding of the full product innovation process, the value innovation delivers, the importance of consumer research, associated supply chain implications and cost structures. Wil has worked extensively in low cost regions (China, India, Latin America, Eastern Europe) to define cost effective product propositions that can be exported to mature developed markets, while at the same time defining other product forms that can work for low-income consumers. He has also defined new operational models to streamline development organisations and cost, while increasing innovation output at the same time. Besides his role at PA Wil is a guest lecturer on "Technology Innovation" at Loughborough University (UK) and Delft University (NL).

Paul Earnshaw has a background in the development, specification and sourcing of new packaging and manufacturing processes. Paul is a packaging and materials engineer with significant experience of implementing novel and robust product solutions across all areas of consumer products. These have ranged from the development of new delivery formats for dental products through to innovative materials processing systems for food. His work on projects of this type has given him an in-depth understanding of how to translate consumer requirements into robust, cost conscious engineering solutions which can be readily industrialized
